YEAH THE BOYS (NWF Reading)

30 September 2024 8:15PM Old Fitz, 129 Dowling St, NSW, Australia. A$0.00
“Schoolies is the week you never forget. Hormones are raging, the boys are out; they’re keen, they’re mean, they’re hungry. But what awaits them, may change their lives forever.”

Note: this a free staged reading presented as part of the Fitz’s inaugural New Works Festival.

'Yeah The Boys' is a gritty, new Australian play that shines a blaring light on toxic masculinity within young adults, showing how social peer-pressures can lead to a crisis of identity and moral dilemma.

What starts out as a week of parties with mates, soon spirals into something more feral & raw, as mateships are tested and lines are drawn by the unspoken rules of masculine identity.

Set against the backdrop of Surfers paradise, Schoolies is the week you'll never forget. Hormones are raging, the boys are out; they're keen, they're mean, they're hungry. But what awaits them, may change their lives forever. For when a mate goes missing, things take a turn for the worse.
