SAME MOUNTAIN, DIFFERENT DAY (NWF Reading)

9 September 2024 6:45PM Old Fitz, 129 Dowling St, NSW, Australia. A$0.00
“When a dark family secret threatens their relationship, two men have to find their voice or surrender to the past.”

Note: this a free staged reading presented as part of the Fitz’s inaugural New Works Festival.

In Same Mountain, Different Day husbands Matt and Rob appear on the surface to be a typical middle-aged, married couple - they argue, they make up, and they agonise about what they're going to have for dinner.

But when Matt receives a disturbing email about a family member, their simple married life is thrown into turmoil. An estranged family member inserts themself into Matt and Rob's life, exposing dark secrets and past trauma, and threatening to bring their healthy relationship undone. Each character deals with this crisis differently - through therapy, denial, avoidance, stoicism, anger, fear, redemption, and hope.

Though rooted in the devastating reality and trauma of childhood sexual abuse, Same Mountain, Different Day is filled with humour, courage and love.
