Night Sky & Telescope Viewing - January 2025
1 January 2025 to 31 January 2025 Dubbo Observatory, 17L Camp Road, Dubbo, NSW, Australia.- Night Sky & Telescope Viewing
- An outdoor astronomy presentation under the stars where you will learn about the night sky & some basic astronomy.
- View the planets, stars, and galaxies through our telescopes (if it is a clear night).
- See our website for the objects we plan to view. dubboobservatory.com/bookings/night-sky-telescope/
- The clearer the sky the more objects we see. The cloudier the sky the less we see. We recommend you book on or close to the day when you know what the weather is doing.
- Up to 9 telescopes to view through depending on number of people attending. We aim for 1 telescope for every 6 people.
- Point out constellations, stars and planets with a laser pointer (clear nights only).
- Answer your questions on the night sky and universe.
- Take a photo of a nebula with your Canon or Nikon DSLR camera or bring your SD card to use our canon camera. If the Moon is visible we photograph the Moon instead. We connect your camera body to the main telescope (clear nights only).
- If it is raining or is overcast at the start of the show we can either (A) issue a credit to attend a future session of equal value within the next 3 years or (B) Continue with the show starting with the astronomy talk and show you what we can through the telescopes.
- The show is suitable for people 8 years & above.
- Children under 5 years of age ae not permitted to attend.
- You must be able at least stand briefly and sometimes take a step or 2 up a ladder to view through the telescopes.
This is an outdoor activity. So dress according to the weather conditions. In winter it can be extremely cold. In some summer months there can be the odd mosquito so either cover up or apply some insect propellant.
